3 Diet Myths That Make You Fat

3 Diet Myths That Make You Fat

8

Are you struggling to slim down, but your efforts are in vain? Have you tried all sorts of diets? If so, you might be doing something wrong. First of all, remove the word “diet” from your vocabulary. The key to weight loss is to make lifestyle changes, such as cutting back on sugar and eating whole, natural foods. Fad diets have little or no results, and can slow down your metabolism.

Here are three diet myths that make you fat:

3

Contrary to popular belief, low fat diets are not effective for weight loss. Fat digestion lowers ghrelin levels, the hormone that causes hunger. Monounsaturated fats keep your heart healthy, suppress the appetite, and reduce muscle loss. They also provide your body with energy while on a low carb diet. Just make sure you eat good fats, such as those found in salmon, sardines, tuna, avocado, and olive oil.

“Diet” Foods Are Your Best Bet

9

Sugar free chocolate, fat free chips, diet ice cream and other similar products are packed with chemicals. Even if the label says “sugar free,” it’s not the same as “carb free.” For example, sugar free cookies can have just as many calories and carbs as regular brands. On top of that, food manufacturers use artificial flavors and trans fats for extra flavor. If you care about your health, avoid so-called “diet” products and eat whole foods. The more natural the ingredients, the better.

Eating Late in the Evening Causes Weight Gain

6

Most dieters avoid eating later in the day, or skip dinner altogether. This habit leads to increased hunger and sluggish metabolism. Eating at night does not make you fat. What matters is your total calorie intake. If you’re hungry before bedtime, grab a high-protein snack, a protein shake, or some cottage cheese. This way, you’ll keep your metabolism up and fuel your muscles during sleep.

So, here are top five fat burning foods for quick weight loss:

Chili Peppers

 red-chilli-pepper

Capsaicin, the active compound in chili peppers, has a strong thermogenic effect. This means it increases your body’s core temperature, leading to a faster metabolism. After eating hot peppers, you’ll keep burning calories for hours. To reap their benefits, add chilies to soups, meats, salads and other meals.

Raw Nuts

Cashews, walnuts, almonds, pistachios and other nuts are high in fiber and essential fatty acids. Dietary fiber has appetite suppressing effects and slows down sugar absorption into your system, which helps prevent insulin spikes. The heart-healthy fats in raw nuts reduce inflammation and ward off hunger. To lose weight, eat a handful of nuts once a day.

Grapefruit

 GRAPEFRUIT

Dieters who eat grapefruit before meals need less food to feel full. This delicious pink fruit regulates blood sugar and metabolism, lowers insulin, and curbs hunger. It also has mild diuretic effects, which helps reduce fluid retention. If you’re always hungry or craving sugar, eat this fruit as a snack.

Kale

 kale

Considered one of the most nutritious foods on earth, kale removes toxins from your body and helps suppress the appetite. Due to its high fiber content, it fills you up quickly and lowers blood glucose levels. Thus leafy green veggie also keeps your digestive system running smoothly and protect against cancer. One cup of kale has only 33 calories, so you can fill your plate without feeling guilty.

Avocado

When consumed regularly, it helps reduce deep abdominal fat and boosts digestion. You can add it to smoothies and shakes, mix it into salads, or eat it raw whenever you’re hungry.

Workout Mistakes That Sabotage Your Progress

Regular exercise is the key to a strong, fit body. Its benefits go beyond fat loss. A well-planned training routine can help you build lean muscle, strengthen your bones, keep your brain sharp, and boost metabolism. Yet, most people fail to achieve their fitness goals. Some go to the gym without having a plan, do too much cardio, or skip the warm up. Others use bad lifting form and end up with injuries.

These common training errors can sabotage your progress, leading to plateaus. Fortunately, it’s never too late to get back on track and reach your goals. Don’t let these exercise mistakes stand in your way:

Skipping the Weights

funny-picture-backgrounds-kitten-lifting-weights
Many gym goers, especially women, believe that cardio is enough. As you age, your metabolism slows down and your muscle mass decreases. Strength training is the key to building muscle and keeping your metabolism up. Aerobic exercise has its perks, but it may also cause muscle loss. Any cardio session longer than 40 minutes will burn both muscle and fat. For best results, mix cardio with weight training. Limit aerobic exercise to 30-40 minutes per day.

Isolation Exercise Overload

Another common mistake is skipping compound exercise and doing too much isolation work, such as crunches, sit-ups, bicep curls, and leg extensions. Unless you’re getting ready for a fitness competition, your workouts should be focused on compound moves. Squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, push-ups, lunges, and bodyweight exercises strengthen your core and hit multiple muscles at once. They also burn the most calories and increase metabolic rate. Whether you want to shed fat or build muscle, these moves should be a staple in your workout.

Doing the Same Workouts Every Time

The key to fat loss and muscle growth is to keep your body guessing. If you do the same workouts every time, your body will adapt and hit a plateau. There is more than one way to vary your training routine, such as trying new exercises, doing more reps, using a barbell instead of dumbbells, and lifting heavier weights. If you want results, keep your workouts diverse.

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genes have been altered by the use of engineering. Genetically modified food (GM Food) is a plant whose genes have been altered by the use of engineering. For example, the gene from a fish that lives in very cold seas has been inserted into a strawberry, allowing the fruit to be frost-tolerant.
“In 2009, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine stated that, “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with genetically modified (GM) food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM has asked physicians to advise all patients to avoid GM foods”
